Cupid Micro Helicopter Modification Page

The BTT Cupid is a great value in a micro FP heli but the following blade mod makes it even better. The stock blades come designed with so much pitch that the machine gets airborne with very little head speed present leading to wobbling of the body of the heli. The Cupid instructions include a supplement that explains how to flatten the blades using your thumps to bend some pitch out. While this will work, the following makes for a more permanent fix. Please note if you are planning to use a training gear set, try the helicopter with the stock unmodified blades first. The extra weight of the training gear will cause the heli to fly and hover at a higher head speed and so the modification may not be needed. Understand that this alteration has been done for helis operating at sea level so if you are located at a high elevation you may not need to trim as much. Here is how to modify the blade set for the BTT Cupid.

1) Using a straight edge scribe a line with an Xacto knife several times using the dimensions shown.

2) Use a pair of pliers to carefully snap the blade along the scribe line.

3) Take some sand paper to clean up and feather the trailing edge thin and at the same time sand the leading edge to a nice round edge.
(I don’t know how much this part helps but I just can’t get used to a wing or a rotor blade with a blunt leading or trailing edge.
Check for balance and install and fly.)
